- W2512149407 abstract "SUMMARY COOPERATIVE MECHANISMS IN WORK COMMUNICATION: A METHODOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK This paper proposes a method of analysing work communication in order to study the cooperative mechanisms involved in verbal interactions, and their specific function, namely, shaping the operators ' representations. The point of view adopted here is constructivist. Experienced events are only part of the basis of knowledge construction ; people also build their knowledge on the basis of interactions with others. In accordance with the preceding viewpoint, the method is based on work analysis and a theory of the relationships between components of the successive utterances of the participants, in other words the interlocutionary logic. This theory, its relevance in analysing verbal exchanges in cooperative situations, and the method stemming from it are presented and illustrated by means of a verbal exchange between operators. This example concerns communications between nuclear power plant supervisors during a shift changeover. The analysis shows that the two operators are reasoning together, cooperatively. In so doing, a shared functional representation concerning the diagnosis and the most likely location of a malfunction is built through dialogue between the two operators. This type of analysis points out the relevance of approaches that integrate pragmatics into the description, analyses, and modelling of the operators' collective natural reasoning. Moreover, the results show that shift changeover is not only an information transfer, but also that verbal exchanges allow cooperative problem solving as well as improvement in the operator expertise." @default.
