- W2523783083 abstract "Thermophilic actinomycetes grow well in situations in which the temperature exceeds 50° either by artificial heating or microbial fermen tation. Large number of f spores will be liberated from the luxuriant growth of thermophilic actinomycetes on such substrates. Susceptible individuals develop hypersensitivity pneumonitis on inhalation of thermophilic actino mycete antigens. Prolonged or recurrent exposure to such antigen-laden environments may result in irreversible lung damage. Diagnosis of hyper sensitivity pneumonitis should be made shortly after onset of the disease to facilitate improved patient management Diagnosis depends on the clinical, environmental, immunologic, microbiologic, radiologic, and phys iologic findings. The immunopathogenesis of the disease is not well under stood but is clearly complex, involving both host and environmental factors. It is necessary to have relevant antigens to assist diagnosis and to help clarify the immune mechanisms and their controls in these patients. The various cells, their central interactions with antigen, and the resulting events leading to production of immunomodulators and other proinflam matory factors must be understood before effective intervention and treat ment can be planned." @default.
