- W2528082887 abstract "The Present investigation was conducted on KF (HF cross) bulls maintained at Artificial Breeding Complex of National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana, India from April, 2008 to July 2009 in five phases to evaluate the effect of various freezing rates and ice nucleation on cryopreservation of crossbred bull semen, to study the effect of filtration with antioxidant fortification on preservability and to assess the effect of Vitamin E supplementation on ameliorating vaccination stress. In phase-1, freezing protocol was standardized for KF bulls. In phase-2 choice of semen additive was done based on comparative performance of these extenders at room temperature (25 C) refrigeration temperature (4 to 7 C) and frozen temperature (-196 C) with low and high grade ejaculates. In phase-3, filtration of low grade ejaculates from Subfertile bulls were done at room temperature, refrigerated temperature and frozen temperature. In phase-4 experiment was conducted to study amelioration of vaccination stress by vitamin E supplementation, and finally in phase-5 Immunomodulating dose of levamisole treatment was used to study the amelioration of vaccination stress. Seeding definitely (p<0.05) improved the semen quality of spermatozoa, though freezing in biological freezer had no additional significant benefit to restore the normal characteristics of spermatozoa. Antioxidants significantly (p<0.05) improve preservability of semen, but among additives vitamin E had best effect. Damage to spermatozoa was found to be least in extender fortified with vitamin E at room refrigeration and frozen temperature. Filtration system containing sephadex ion-exchange columns can effectively remove immotile, dead and abnormal spermatozoa from an extended low quality semen ejaculate specially when it is fortified with vitamin E, at all preservation temperature. Vitamin E supplementation in vaccinated bulls ameliorates vaccination stress partially as it improve significantly (p<0.05) overall volume, concentration dose/ejaculates and other characteristics of spermatozoa. Levamisole treatment in vaccinated bulls ameliorates vaccination stress partially as it improve significantly (p<0.05) overall concentration, dose/ejaculates and other characteristics of spermatozoa. No significant effect was observed in blood profile either with Vitamin E supplementation or Levamisole treatment." @default.
