The dialog presents the philosopher who gladly accepts the death, resigned to his condemnation. The plot brings, thus, the personification of the philosopher’s intellectual posture, which is guided by the philosophical exercise to acquire the morals and intellectuals excellences. The narrative of the philosopher’s preparation to death, said as a synonym of philosophize, presents the stages of the intellectual development and, likewise, the arguments that justify and explain, to some extent, philosophical moral. While the intellectual behavior of the philosopher puts him in a morally condition, it also allows him to speculate on immortality and believe, based on reason, that in the end he will have guaranteed a good destination after death (Phaed. 107c1-5). The moral modification is inextricably thus connected to intellectual development. The intellectual development is equally linked to a morality that is intended to the Good and to immortality. It is important to investigate the performance of this moral modification made by the philosophical exercise and the conception of thought given in the argument about purification. Keywords: Thought.
