The purpose of this paper is to formulate conditions for efficient (profit maximizing) labor use in which the organization of the firm and the jobs within it or its labor force are endogenous variables. The exogenous variables are underlying technologies of organization and opportunities for designing jobs and creating an organizational form to produce a high volume of output, to control the behavior of individuals and to cope with changes in the firm's" @default.
