• W2541870590 abstract "In order to curtail the waiting time of a station in the wireless local area network a novel mechanism is proposed which checks the medium at frequent interval of time. In the existing method, when a collision is occurred during the contention period a random number will be assigned to each station to fix a horologe. In order to capture the medium the station senses the medium only when the counter value reaches zero where the random number was assigned. Before reaching to zero there may be a possibility that the channel become idle. Though the channel is idle the station unable to get the medium. So the waiting time of each station in the network will be more but in the proposed method the system sensing the medium takes place quite often before the counter value reaches zero. If not the detriment process will resume as usual in the case of Binary Exponential Back off Algorithm. Since it often monitoring the medium the proposed method at the earliest find the medium is in idle state or not. So the stations need to wait till the counter value reaches to zero. Thus the remaining amount of waiting time of node or station in the wireless network is saved. By considering each node in the wireless network the total amount of the waiting time will be more compared to the existing method. Also when the station is checking the medium frequently during the countdown period, it is guaranteed that more number of stations in the network can definitely access the medium during the contention period compared to the existing method. During transmission when a collision occurs a station is assigned with random number based on the contention window so as to fix a horologe. From this random number the station decrements the value to zero and then the station tries to access the medium for the second time and so on. In the" @default.
