- W2546811652 abstract "In the past, gastric resection was considered to be the first therapeutic step in primary gastric lymphoma (PGL). Since many of the advantages claimed in the past for the surgical approach have become less relevant, the stomach-conserving policy has become the standard. However, the advantages of non-surgical approach have not been confirmed by a prospective randomized trial of adequate size, and only a few prospective phase II studies have evaluated non-surgical treatment in histologically aggressive PGL. Literature data, concerned with the non-surgical treatment of PGL, is reviewed in this article. These data clearly indicate that surgery does not have any apparent diagnostic or therapeutic advantages and that aggressive PGL can be treated successfully with primary chemotherapy, with or without radiotherapy." @default.
