Therefore, dealers and sales personnel need to know the pulse of the customer and the customer's touch points by thoroughly understanding the customers' needs and wants. Thus, creating a superior customer value and ways to increase customer satisfaction is the order of the day during the purchase, prior to purchase, as well as post purchase process. At any point of time if the customer tends to be dissatisfied on any grounds, viz., emotional, psychological and personal ground, it will lead to customer switching behavior. In order to cater to the customers' needs and satisfy them, various strategies, viz., customer service cell with highly trained personnel, emergency services and quick after-sales service and support, etc., have been identified. This study aims to identify the level of customer satisfaction rendered through the quality of service by the dealers, sub-dealers and retailers of the mini pump purchasers in Coimbatore city. This analysis was carried out using the input data collected from 250 respondents at various POP. The outcome of the study revealed that the commitment by the sellers, quick after-sales service, extended warranty terms and attitude of the sales personnel play a significant role in rendering customer satisfaction.IntroductionAuthentic marketing is not the art of selling what we make, but knowing what to make. It is also known for its cosmopolitan outlook having numerous manufactures of electric motors and pump sets for various segments, viz., agricultural, industry and domestic segments. Coimbatore pump market accounts for about 40% of the sales of the total industry. The main reason for the pump industries in Coimbatore is the availability of graded castings and number of foundries situated in and around Coimbatore. Coimbatore to its credit took the first-mover advantage in manufacturing domestic selfpriming pumps termed as 'mini pump'. There is a huge demand for mini pumps from domestic users for lifting water from a tank or a sump, for gardening purpose in individual house, and for lifting water in multistoried building overhead tank for daily usage. Selfpriming mini pump operates in a single-phase rating, ranging from 0.25 Horse Power (HP), 0.5 HP, 1 HP, 1.5 HP and 2 HP. Thus, the Coimbatore pump industry occupied a greater role to meet this great demand for mini pumps throughout the nation as well as for export market.Need for the StudyIn view of the robust growth witnessed by the housing sector, the so-called domestic sector, there has been an increase in demand for mini pumps from the domestic buyers. Also the shiftin consumer preference has resulted in an increase in the number of manufacturers producing mini pumps. According to the data released by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) pertaining to Coimbatore region, there is an enormous increase in the percentage of BIS license holders manufacturing pump sets. The industry expects that its performance will grow further in the coming years through domestic as well as export market.
