- W2548242502 abstract "A design for an experiment demonstrating the resistive method of plasma detachment is explored for use on the Micro-Cathode Arc Thruster (µCAT) at the George Washington University (GWU). This resistive method involves the creation of an induced magnetic field traveling in the toroidal direction of the initial plasma flow, which is traveling in the poloidal direction. These fields are achieved by adding an outer annulus ring to the magnetic nozzle. The results from the experiments on the µCAT pulsed plasma thruster could be scaled upwards for use in full-sized pulsed power spacecraft, such as Magneto-Inertial Fusion (MIF) plasma. In the concluding remarks, two mathematical challenges are mentioned: firstly, the collimation experiments simulating solar phenomenon utilized a continuous plasma source, whereas for the proposed case, the plasma source will be pulsed, and secondly, the size must be scaled upwards from the laboratory scale to the fusion spacecraft scale." @default.
