- W2550544304 abstract "We report the study of moving magnetic structures inferred from the observations of a moving type IV event with multiple sources. The ejection contains at least two moving radio emitting loops with different relative inclinations. The radio loops are located above multiple He flare loops in an active region near the limb. We investigate the relationship between the two systems of loops. The spatial, temporal and geometrical associations between the radio emission and near surface activities suggest a scenario similar to coronal mass ejection (CME) events, although no CME observations exist for the present event. From the observed characteristics, we find that the radio emission can be interpreted as Razin suppressed optically thin gyrosynchrotron emission from nonthermal particles of energy ~ 100 keV and density 102-10 s cm -3 in a magnetic field < 2 G. Moving type IV bursts play an important role in the study of mass ejections from the Sun since they are associated with loops or blobs of white light mass ejecta. Since the radio emission is produced by nonthermal particles, a study of moving type IV bursts provides important information on particle acceleration during a mass ejection event (e.g., Kundu et al., 1989). Multifrequency observations of moving type IV bursts that occur near the limb reveal the vertical structure of the ejection events (Gopalswamy and Kundu, 1989). In addition, they provide constraints on the models of moving type IV bursts (e.g., Nelson, 1977). Of the three kinds of moving type IV's, namely, 'isolated sources', 'advancing fronts', and 'expanding arches' (Smerd and Dulk, 1971; Kundu, 1982) the latter two are rather rare. Of the 46 moving type IV events reported in the Culgoora Catalog between 1968 and 1981 (Robinson et al., 1983), there were 26 isolated sources, 8 expanding arches, and 5 advancing fronts; one was jet-like and 6 were of unknown variety. Only seven events were observed at two frequencies and eight at three frequencies; the remaining 31 were observed at a single frequency. A typical expanding arch contains multiple sources: one on either leg of the arch and one at the apex. Only seven moving type IV events with multiple sources are reported in the Culgoora Catalog. Of these, only three were e Kai, 1978), three isolated (Schmahl, 1973; Smerd and Dulk, 1971), and one jet-like (Riddle and Sheridan, 1971). In this paper we report four sources in a moving type IV burst and show that they represent two different arches moving with nearly the same speed. We also investigate the geometrical relation between the two arches and their relation to surface activity. Mass ejections events are believed to be unstable magnetic structures moving out in the corona. Surface activities such as flares and eruptive prominences may occur in" @default.
