The key finding of Turner et al.—that among older African American adults higher perceived stress is associated with faster cognitive decline in global cognition, episodic memory, and visuospatial ability—underscores the deleterious effect of perceived stress on older adults, particularly among a population known to have a high burden of stress and cognitive decline, African Americans.
