- W2553516152 abstract "The production of the sulfate potassium-magnesium fertilizer is a promising direction of the potassium industry development. Polyhalite (K 2S0 4·MgS0 4·2CaS0 4·2Н 20) and langbeinite (K 2SО 4·2MgSО 4) ores can be used as natural raw for production of the sulphate potassium-magnesium fertilizers. The methods of sulfate fertilizers obtaining by conversion of potassium chloride are known. Potassium chloride reacts with sulfuric acid or sodium and ammonium sulfate in these technologies. Polyhalite ores are characterized by slow solubility in aqueous solution. However, the water easily leaches potassium and magnesium salt from surface polyhalite, leaving a precipitate, which has a composition of gypsum (CaSO 4·2H 2O). For the first time, the technology of polyhalite ore processing was developed for solids of Western of Texas saliferous deposit. It included the stage of ore burning in order to transform polyhalite in water-soluble form. Potassium and magnesium sulfates transfered to solution at subsequent hot leaching (~100°С) of calcined ore, while gypsum transited into dump. Technologies, which combine hot and cold leaching of calcined polyhalite, were developed. Well-known technologies of sulfate potassium-magnesium fertilizer obtaining from polyhalite ores include stages of ore treatment (separation of sodium chloride), calcination, and potassium and magnesium sulfate crystallization. Usually gravitational methods or aqueous washing methods are it applied on the step of ore treatment. The aim of present work was to investigate stages of ore treatment by aqueous washing from halite, of calcination and leaching, also to determine of optimal parameters for these processes. Polyhalite ore of the Zhilyanska deposit was selected as an object of the study. Chemical, thermal and X-ray phase analysis of polyhalite ore from Zhilyanska deposit were conducted. Optimal parameters of the main stages of sulfate potassium-magnesium fertilizer production also were determined." @default.
