W2554291285 abstract "Regarding the role of urban context in achieving the character of the city, and attracting tourists especially to the historic cities; this paper discuses one of the challenges that face many old cities in the developing countries; it is the absence of the contextuality 1 due to their unplanned and uncontrollable growth through time. Koya City which is one of the important yet neglected Iraqi Kurdish historic cities is one of those cities. This paper intends to highlight the importance of this issue and take lessons from other famous historic cities with valid contextuality to produce the contextuality in Koya. This paper shows, therefore, the current situation of the oldest street in Koya City (Haji Qadir St.), stating the main challenges that face its urban context, and then studies the urban context of some old streets in three cities (Nottingham in UK, Cottbus in Germany, and Istanbul in Turkey) and the deferent types of solutions they offered and might be applied in Koya's old streets.
