- W2561009773 abstract "Abstract Integration of propulsion and flight control systemsand their optimization offers significant performanceimprovements. The NASA Ames Research Center,Dryden Flight Research Facility has, over the years,conducted research programs which have developednew propulsion and flight control integration concepts,implemented designs on high-performance airplanes,demonstrated these designs in flight, and measuredthe performance improvements. These programs, firston the YF-12 airplane, and later on the F-15, havedemonstrated increased thrust, reduced fuel consump-tion, increased engine life, and improved airplane per-formance; with improvements in the 5- to 10-percentrange achieved with integration and with no changes tohardware. The design, software and hardware devel-opments, and testing requirements have been shown tobe practical. This technology has been transferred tothe user community through reports, symposia, and in-dustry cooperative programs, and is appearing on op-erational and advanced airplanes.
