- W2563485331 abstract "This study evaluated cement-based composites reinforced with cellulose fibers. The production of composites in laboratory scale is an adaptation of industrial processes for fiber-cement manufacturing. The physical and mechanical behaviors were evaluated using macroscopic properties, considered to be important when that material is used in construction. The results confirmed the benefits of cellulose pulp incorporation for the mechanical properties of the composites. The matrix activated by gypsite and hydrated lime (EGCH) was less aggressive to the fibers, but presented incipient hydration in the initial ages and strength loss as a consequence of carbonation. The matrix activated with Portland cement (ECP) developed higher alkalinity and presented higher mechanical strength values in the initial ages. However, fibers decomposed and impaired mechanical properties during the aging process. Carbonation reduced the alkaline attack of the ECP matrix, stabilizing strength and promoting less intense reduction of toughness." @default.
