- W2565156906 abstract "This chapter addresses the diagnosis of penile fracture, which if missed can cause significant erectile dysfunction; the imaging of fibrosis and in particular Peyronie's disease; the imaging of priapism; and the utility of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the problematic penile implant. Penile fracture is defined as a traumatic breach of the tunica albuginea, usually occurring with trauma to the tumescent penis, and associated with the sensation of a 'crack' and rapid detumescence with bruising. The distinction between high-flow priapism and low-flow can be made clinically and with the aid of blood gases. In most cases ultrasound is the primary radiological investigation. In high-flow priapism it is an excellent tool for the identification of high-volume, low-resistance, often chaotic flow characteristic of a pseudoaneurysm. Several causes of malfunctioning penile implant can be difficult to diagnose clinically, but are well seen on MRI: crossover; kinking from overlong cavernosal components; aneurysmal dilatation; distal flaccidity from too short components." @default.
