- W2565684286 abstract "Abstract: This paper surveys the China Dream in the domestic setting. While the China Dream is largely viewed as relating to the economic and political goals of the Chinese state, China’s President Xi Jinping has indicated in speeches that the China Dream has far wider aims. He has stated that the China Dream involves the ‘great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation’ and that within this rejuvenation it is hoped the Chinese state will become prosperous and powerful. However, the China Dream is a concept that has begun to evolve within the domestic setting and its focus on national dignity is also becoming enmeshed with notions of human dignity and even human rights in the broadest sense. In addition, it is also linked to continued economic growth, which has become an expectation of the Chinese population and part of the social contract they have with the Chinese Communist Party.
