- W2569874438 abstract "Supervisory control for deadlock-free resource allocation has been an active area of research in automated manufacturing systems (AMSs). In most of such work, researchers always assume that allocated resources are reliable. In reality, resource failures occur unexpectedly with increasingly complex system structures. Thus, we take deadlock and blocking problems into account in AMSs with unreliable resources in this paper. In our previous work, we develop a robust deadlock-free supervisory control policy to ensure robust deadlock-freeness for simple Petri net-based system structures. In order to conform to high-productivity requirement, a kind of more complex systems, i.e., Mono-T-Semiflow Processes with Resources, is proposed in this paper. Through online analysis and control, our supervisor automatically allocates resources so that processes stopped by unexpected resource failures do not block the production of parts not necessarily requiring failed resources in case any unreliable resource fails undesirably. To be specific, we hope concerned parts can advance into the buffer space of an unreliable resource at any time so as to release reliable resources shared with other processes.
