- W2571342696 abstract "Polarization information is widely used in laser communication as well as the detection of aerosol and clouds, etc. But the variation and degradation of the laser polarization state will seriously reduce the coherent efficiency, which will degrade the performance of coherent lidar. In this research, the method of polarization diversity reception (PDR) is mainly analysed to remove the decrease of coherent efficiency due to the polarization mismatch between the local-oscillator (LO) and backscattered polarized laser which acts as the echo signal, and the adoption of PDR can improve the efficiency and stability of coherent remote sensing lidar especially the coherent differential absorption lidar (CDIAL). To begin with, polarization variation of backscattered polarized laser is displayed by the Mie scattering theory, and based on Monte Carlo simulation, backscattering properties of horizontal polarized laser are analysed which shows that the average polarization angle of backscattered laser changes and tends to increase with the increase of particle size when laser is scattered by aerosols such as the fog particle. Then the effect of PDR is analysed, which shows that the PDR method can detect the echo power with high efficiency without the influence of polarization. Finally, to verify the effect of PDR, based on our experimental system of all-fiber CDIAL system, experiments are carried out which shows that PDR can reduce the amplitude fluctuation of intermediate-frequency (IF) signal; and fluctuation of extracted off line signal can be reduced from 8.78% to 0.25% with PDR. Besides, the adoption of PDR method can improve the resolution of CDIAL system." @default.
