This paper discusses the rules and tendencies of the usage of the third-person-pronoun in singular, restricted by the pro-drop rules in Hungarian. It outlines the conditions of the implicit anaphor as a subject, compares the demonstrative pronoun – az – and the personal pronoun – ő – in anaphoric relation and describes the performance of the personal pronoun in anaphoric and referential function in texts. The definitive nature of the [+human] marker implicit in the personal pronoun, the contrastive and identifying meaning of this pronoun and its specific illocutionary and logophoric roles are discussed." @default.
