- W2575668408 abstract "Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) has become in recent years the preferred surgical procedure to treat Abdominal Aortic Aneurysms, involving the deployment and fixation of a stent graft inside the aorta via catheterism, which excludes the aneurysm wall from blood circulation. The development of the technique, whose technology has evolved to deal with some of the most complex cases, has benefited from progress in advanced medical imaging techniques, where Computer Tomography Angiography is the gold standard for diagnosis, preoperative planning, and follow-up. Medical image analysis has also evolved in parallel, and it is now possible to provide more accurate endovascular planning and endograft sizing with a combination of 3D vascular analysis and visualization, allowing one to measure precisely relevant geometric design parameters for adequate device selection or custom design. We show some of the more recent developments in this area, describing the technological problems and solutions behind medical image analysis software for EVAR planning, as well as some representative examples. These systems have become indispensable for nowadays EVAR intervention, and as the technology evolves, we will be able to perform simulations to predict the behavior of the aorta-endograft system, so that devices can be designed to prevent possible complications." @default.
