We observe that this ratio depends strongly on the bonding partner M. We trace this behavior to a dynamic change in the charge distribution of the molecules during vibrational motion by comparing the derivatives of the dipole moment during vibrational motion calculated from a fixed-charge approximation, a charge distribution analysis, and the prediction of the infrared spectra of the ions under study.
