- W2580873312 abstract "In this paper, fundamental design tradeoffs of multiple U-Slot loaded antenna terminals are presented in the framework of characteristic mode analysis. In particular, interactions between antennas has been investigated using characteristic modes in both analysis and simulation. The results reveal that characteristic modes play an important role in determining optimal location of antennas for low mutual coupling. Moreover, the overall performance can be influenced by carefully exciting certain modes in U-Slot antennas. The modal analysis of two U-Slot antennas will lead to an efficient phased array design with low mutual coupling and wide scan angle. Two techniques, based on characteristic modes, are proposed to design optimally located multiple antenna terminals with wide bandwidth and mutual coupling below -20 dB. To demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed approaches, two single layer, probe fed U-Slot antennas are designed, simulated and investigated using characteristics modes." @default.
