- W2583070244 abstract "Translational motion compensation (TMC) processing is an integral part of any radar imaging algorithm, especially for a non-cooperative target where the target motion must be estimated from the received radar signal. For narrowband applications requiring wide angles of target rotation where a strong non-rotating component is not present in the received signal, the problem has not been adequately addressed in the literature. This paper proposes an effective method for TMC, which makes use of the closed-form solution of a rotating point scatterer and the fact that all scatterers undergo the same translational (or radial) motion of the whole target. Within a standard framework of the orthogonal matching pursuit algorithm, the method can estimate the translational velocity with a useful accuracy using angular rotations of 45° or more, and with a relatively small computational cost. The method is demonstrated with both simulated and real data from the rotating blades of a helicopter." @default.
