- W2583173722 abstract "Introduction: The effects of biodegradable implants used for refixation of osteochondral flakes on parameters of inflammation are not well analysed yet. Methods: Osteotomia of distal femur joint was performed in 36 sheep. The fragments were refixed using three poly L-DL-Iactide pins (70/30) (Polypin®) or composite pins [Polypin® plus 10% {3-tricalcium phosphate (90/10)]. Histological studies oflocallymphnodes, systemic lymphnodes and the femoral joint synovia were done 3, 18, and 36 months after operation. Furthermore serum parameters were measured in order to detect systemic inflammatory reactions. Results: The clinical follow-up during three postoperative years revealed no obvious functional deficits. In two of 18 individuals treated with composite pins minor unspecific inflammatory reactions of the synovia could be detected after 18 months. Statistical analysis of the inflammatory reaction of lymphnodes revealed no significant difference between both groups. Conclusion: The addition of 10% {3-tricalciumphosphate had no effects on degradation time and inflammation." @default.
