Skutkiem dzialania wolnych rodnikow jest uszkodzenie blon komorkowych i organelli, inaktywacja enzymow, przeciązenie komorek jonami wapnia, uszkodzenie genomu, niedobory energetyczne. W wyniku reakcji rodnika ponadtlenkowego z tlenkiem azotu dochodzi do jego unieczynnienia i zmniejszenia jego biodostepności, co lezy u podloza zaburzenia czynności środblonka. Wobec niedoboru tlenku azotu przewage zyskują czynniki naczyniozwezające, jak angiotensyna, endotelina, prostaglandyna H2, i tromboksan A2, jego niedobor sprzyja tez ujawnieniu sodowrazliwości związanej z zaburzeniem natriurezy. Wyniki badan prowadzonych w ostatnich latach wykazaly, ze wolne rodniki są mediatorami dzialania angiotensyny II, najpewniej rowniez endoteliny i bradykininy. Są mediatorami dzialania czynnikow wzrostowych, aktywują protoonkogeny c-fos i c-jun, biorą udzial w przebudowie ściany naczyniowej. Wyniki wielu badan wykazywaly zaleznośc miedzy aktywnością enzymow uwalniających wolne rodniki lub stezeniem wolnych rodnikow a wartością ciśnienia tetniczego.Udzial wolnych rodnikow w stymulowaniu reakcji skurczowej i przebudowie naczyn potwierdza mozliwośc blokowania i zapobiegania tym zmianom oraz obnizenia ciśnienia tetniczego przez zastosowanie przeciwutleniaczy.Choc dotychczasowe badania nie pozwalają na wysuniecie hipotezy o roli przyczynowej wolnych rodnikow w wywolywaniu nadciśnienia tetniczego, to dokumentują ich udzial w rozwoju powiklan naczyniowych." @default.
