- W2587299321 abstract "Having been signed off through an executive order, it appears that the Trans Pacific Partnership is now dead in the waters – even though it was also considered to have been a stronger contender than its counterpart – the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). What hopes now lie for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)? With recent ratification of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement – even though this was also not without its complications, it appears logical that there should be hopes for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. If possible, also for a similar model which combines and draws elements and strengths of models based on the Comprehensive Economic and Trade and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership Agreements – even if theoretically, not all parties to the original agreements are present in the consolidated model. In the meantime, there are also deliberations as regards whether present Border Adjustment Tax reforms being considered will generate a win-lose or win-win outcome – this amidst revelations that trade competitors are also likely to benefit - even on a greater scale, than the instigators of the reform. Faced with such dilemmas, it could be helpful to reflect and place greater focus on, as well as consider the costs of damaged irreparable long standing trade relations or rather, the benefits of salvaging such relations whilst not considerably foregoing the benefits of introducing certain tax reforms. Further, a model based on strengths and elements of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership and the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, may ultimately, and possibly and globally, also pave way for the facilitation of broader diplomatic relations – whilst exerting trans regional economic dominance, benefits and presence, hence resulting in an overall and predominantly win outcome." @default.
