Immunoassays are a popular way of determining the amount of a particular analyte in a sample. Analytes can range from herbicides and pesticides to hormones and protein biomarkers. One of the reasons for their widespread popularity is their ease of use and relatively low costs. This chapter examines the binding interaction and its effect on immunoassays, as well as various types of immunoassays that can be performed. References1 Yalow RS , Berson SA .
