The DempsterShafer based fuzzy set (DFS) will be constructed as a simplified secondary (probability density function) PDF to avoid the complex derivation.The main advantage of the proposed system is its robustness under unknown stochastic variation, where traditional fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic systems are accurate enough when capturing these uncertainties.The fuzzification process in Section 4.1 indicates why this system is simple and less complex. Four probability intervals are directly calculated through the 3-sigma rule, which is exactly the main difference between our system and the previous probabilistic fuzzy logic system. The DempsterShafer (DS) theory of evidence is introduced to improve fuzzy inference under the complex stochastic environment. The DempsterShafer based fuzzy set (DFS) is first proposed, together with its union and intersection operations, to capture the principal stochastic uncertainties. Then, the fuzzy inference will be modified based on the extensional Dempster rule of combination. This new approach is able to capture the stochastic disturbance acting on fuzzy membership function, and provide a more effective inference under strong stochastic uncertainty. Finally, the numerical simulation and the experimental prediction of the wind speed are conducted to show the potential of the proposed method in stochastic modeling." @default.
