- W2593636823 abstract "Growth of bimetallic clusters in the gas phase is conveniently obtained by dual-target dual-laser sources which provide a flexible approach for tuning composition and size. Production parameters, such as ablation time and laser energy density are tuned independently for each target, allowing great control over the composition of the clusters. Here we describe the general design of dual-target dual-laser sources, as well as a study of the most important parameters influencing cluster production. The implementation of the source is illustrated through its use in a selection of cluster beam experiments performed on bimetallic clusters. Examples include (i) size-dependent stability, reactivity, and optical absorption of metal doped gold clusters, (ii) stability patterns of aluminum doped lead clusters, (iii) structure and electronic properties of metal doped silicon clusters, and (iv) controlled production of silver-gold nanoalloy clusters." @default.
