- W2593959634 abstract "The verification and validation of sensors is essential for optimizing the reliability, performance, and cost savings of monitored processes. The development of Instrument Surveillance and Calibration Verification systems for complex processes requires an empirical model to provide estimations of the process measurements. The residual differences between the estimations and measurements are then evaluated to determine the proper operation of the process sensors. This work presents an empirical modeling approach which combines a bilinear modeling technique, Partial Least Squares, with the universal function approximation abilities of single hidden layer non-linear artificial neural networks. This approach, referred to as Neural Network Partial Least Squares, is compared to the common Autoassociative Artificial Neural Network. In order to validate the approach, results using data from a electrical power is given. Results are presented for 84 process signals with an average estimation error of ~1% of the measured value, and out-of-calibration alarm levels at ~2.5% drift for the boiler system, and ~1% for the turbine system. This approach will be applied to a compression station of the Transportadora Brasileira Gasoduto Bolivia-Brasil S.A., but its use can be extended to any other process." @default.
