- W2594739074 abstract "Summary The breaking or pertubation of metabolic relations between protonema and the, spoon-like‘ stage of gametophyte: ,Gymnogramme calomelanos ‘ (by excision, or by a sudden variation of light, or by plasmolysis) induces a mitotic reactivation of one or more cells of protonema. These cells regenerate one or more gametophyte with an axis of growth perpendicular to the initial. The first regenerate formed inhibits the others and the suppression of the prevailing axis induces a recovery of growth of the most advanced regenerate. Beyond a certain stage of aging which is more in relation with their metabolic state than with their physiological age, the protonema lose their regenerative ability. Varying correlative inhibitions showed on this material seem to support the concept of trophic diversion by active areas at the expense of inhibited areas.
