- W2596694695 abstract "The April 6th 2009 earthquake and the studies of Seismic Microzonation for the re-construction of the L’Aquila zone During the night of April 6, 2009, a severe earthquake (Mw=6.3) struck the L’Aquila region (central Italy). In the epicentral region the death toll reached 308, most in the town of L’Aquila. The maximum intensity was 9-10 MCS (Mercalli-Cancani-Sieberg scale). Most of the damage and collapses involved rubble-stone and/or masonry buildings, especially those which had been overloaded with non-collaborative R.C. roofs. After an earthquake, the observation of damages on constructions and infrastructures often highlights substantial differences in different built-up areas, even at a short distance between them. In the case of the L’Aquila earthquake, these situations were found in many localities. Often, causes are linked to the local seismic risk, determined by the different earthquake propagation or by the instability of the soil. These considerations are part of the studies of Seismic Microzonation, through which it is possible to identify and characterize stable areas, which are susceptible to local amplification, and areas subject to instability, such as landslides, surface fractures and soil liquefaction. Le tremblement de terre du 6 avril 2009 et les etudes de Microzonation Sismique pour la reconstruction de l’aire de L’Aquila La nuit du 6 avril 2009 un fort tremblement de terre (Mw=6,3) frappe le territoire de L’Aquila (Italie centrale). Dans l’aire epicentrale les victimes sont 308, la plupart dans la ville de L’Aquila. L’intensite du seisme equivaut a 9-10 degres MCS (echelle Mercalli Cancani Sieberg). Les degâts les plus importants et les effondrements interessent surtout les edifices en pierre et en maconnerie, en particulier ceux surcharges avec des toits lourds en beton arme. Apres un tremblement de terre, l’observation des dommages sur des bâtiments et sur les infrastructures met souvent en evidence des differences substantielles dans les diverses agglomerations urbaines, meme dans celles separees par des breves distances. A l’occasion du tremblement de terre de L’Aquila, ces situations ont ete observees dans plusieurs localites. La cause de cela est souvent liee a la diverse dangerosite sismique locale, determinee par la differente propagation des vagues sismiques ou par l’instabilite du sol. Ces evaluations font partie de detaillees etudes sismiques, a travers lesquelles il est possible de determiner et de caracteriser les zones stables, susceptibles d’amplification locale et les zones sujettes a instabilite, comme par exemple eboulements, fractures de surface et liquefaction du sol.
