- W2597600979 abstract "Literature is human’s expression. In other words, literary works such as drama or play, novel and poem expose human life. People usually have many ways of expressing their feeling, imagination, creation and communication. The writer chooses Dan Brown’s novel “The Da Vinci Code” as the topic of this thesis. This novel is categorized as adventure and mystery novel that tells about the mystery behind the murder and the adventure in solving the code behind the Da Vinci’s paintings. The writer of this thesis formulated three problems that are aimed at finding out the causes of Jacques Sauniere’s murder, the suspected murderer, and describing the murder revealed at the end of the story. This study uses descriptive qualitative research design because it explained the data descriptively that taken based on the statement of the problems. The writer uses objective approach because it is fully concerned with the object taken. The result of the study shows that: (1) there are two causes of Jacques Sauniere’s murder (a) Jacques Sauniere was the only remaining link of priory of Sion (Silas wanted himself to be the only person who knew about the truth), (b) Jacques Sauniere’s secret (Jacques Sauniere hide something that was not belong to him/his brethren). (2) the person who suspected to be the murderer is Robert Langdon. (3) the murder revealed through four steps: (a) the investigation and the proofs found by agent PTS of DCPJ in the Château Villette, Paris, (b) the confession of Sir Leigh Teabing in Chapter House, London, (c) the arrested of Sir Leigh Teabing in Chapter House and (d) Lieutenant Collet’s statement that the murder revealed." @default.
