- W2599453460 abstract "1.Briefly about Organizational CultureToday organizational or corporate culture, as it is called by some authors when they talk about commercial organizations, is seen as crucial agent for the growth and development of modern enterprises. It is believed that organizational culture is one of the basic conditions that forms the base for effective functioning and success of the organization (business enterprise, company, etc.). Accordingly, organizational culture is increasingly becoming an unavoidable issue in the analysis of the effectiveness and development of each company.Organizational culture is defined as a set of beliefs, values, and assumptions that are shared by members of an organization [26]. Simply illustrated, what is the personality for an individual that for organization (company, firms, etc.) is its culture! It includes a certain system of values, understandings, beliefs, ethics, lifestyles, personality and character of the organization, i.e., a group of people who constitute that organization. Realizing the importance of organizational culture, researchers from developed countries conducted a number of studies that aimed to explore the way in which organizational culture influences the degree of formalization, decentralization, human resources management, work organization, standardization of procedures, method of control of the company and other management functions. Studies were conducted in a number of organizations from different business areas such as: manufacturing, healthcare, trade, catering, finance, education, et al. [16, 13, 8, 33, 34, 36, 11, 20].By studying the foreign and domestic literature it was found that organizational culture in companies that manage large forest areas, in the Croatian forestry sector and wider in the EU, has not been the subject of systematic research. In fact, although some research in Croatian forestry context contained some elements that deal with these issues [21, 31, 18], organizational culture itself was very rarely observed and treated as special topic and special area. On the other hand, in line with current scientific views on the company and work operations management, as well as the positive experiences of organizations in various fields, it can be concluded that the measurement and assessment of the type and strength of the organizational culture can contribute and improve the operations of the forestry companies. Awareness of the importance of organizational culture and determination in trying to apply its concepts in business activities of forest companies is a crucial step in the process of upgrading performance results, modernization of company's management practice and overall development of Croatian forestry. The Concept of Organizational CultureOrganizational culture is a relatively new concept in organizational theory and it represents a very complex concept that cannot always be accommodated in some solid boundaries and frames, so it is not easy to define it. What is understood under the concept of organizational culture varies considerably between individual authors, i.e. there are numerous approaches and viewpoints. In the literature there are different definitions which are focused on the dimensions of organizational culture and emphasize its features, but, as with most general concepts, it is difficult to unambiguously describe organizational culture and there is no universally accepted definition for it. The concept of organizational culture emerged in 1979 in an article written by Petigrew (1979) on the impact of major structural changes in the structure, functioning and climate relationships within educational institutions. This marked the first stage of evolution, i.e. an attempt to define a new concept and highlight its importance in integrating and/or understanding the inconsistent findings of previous empirical studies. In consideration of the term and concept of organizational culture the particularly important contributions were provided by Schein [26, 27]. …" @default.
