- W2602520003 abstract "Rodents are commonly used as biological models in research related to the development of new drugs and treatments. The locomotion analysis of laboratory rats remains a great challenge due to the necessity of time-consuming manual annotations of video data required to obtain quantitative measurements of the kinematics of the rodent extremities. In this article, we address the problem of the synthesis of the hind limb of rats, with the aim of performing an automatic analysis of its kinematics. For this purpose, we recorded video sequences of rats with marks in the posterior hind limbs and we record them while walking in a controlled environment. We perform segmentation of the marks on each frame to generate a binary image corresponding to the marks. A genetic algorithm combined with a local search procedure is used to find an approximation to the optimum hind limb model which best fits the data of the segmented images. The results indicate the feasibility of using the proposed algorithm for automatically detecting the articulation configuration of rats hind limb." @default.
