- W2610656610 abstract "When situational judgement tests (SJTs) began to regain popularity among the scientific community in the 1990s, there was an implicit notion that they captured context-dependent knowledge. This chapter presents the traditional contextualized perspective underlying SJTs. It then reviews the underlying theory, the developmental stages and the research evidence regarding this perspective. The chapter presents the general domain knowledge perspective, thereby following exactly the same structure as for the contextualized perspective. Contextualized SJTs aim to confront applicants with a set of situations similar to those they might encounter on the job and elicit their procedural knowledge about how to respond to these stimuli. Like other simulations such as assessment centre exercises or work samples, context-specific SJTs rest on the notions of point-to-point correspondence with the criterion (future job situations) and behavioural consistency. The chapter concludes by presenting directions for future research and by giving recommendations for HR practices." @default.
