- W2611945959 abstract "According to the most recent structural models in the field of personality, the dimensions of personality (personality traits) are organized along different levels of generality. Although different structural solutions can be applied in the modeling of the personality structure, only two models comprise this structure completely, the classical hierarchical or higher-order model and the bifactor model. In this chapter, the hierarchical and bifactor solutions of the higher-order personality structure were analyzed and compared on the basis of relevant research evidence. Both hierarchical and bifactor model fitted the entered data adequately in most cases. Yet, from the methodological point of view, both models differ with regard to basic characteristics and principles and may have some distinct advantages or disadvantages including scientific parsimony. Thus, the conceptualization of the higher-order structure of personality and other traits should balance between the advantages and disadvantages of both structural solutions in the context of the given problem, data, and their theoretical meaning." @default.
