- W2612798898 abstract "Creativity is becoming increasingly important for personal and business success, thus cultivating creativity should be an indispensable goal for education programs at all levels. As learning is increasingly taking place on IT-supported learning systems, these learning systems should explore what functions can be made available to foster creativity. This study tries to investigate this topic from a novel perspective, based on recent psychological findings that engaging in unrelated tasks that exhibit mind wandering can foster creativity. This positive effect emerges because mind wandering triggers successful incubation intervals, during which fixating elements that impair creativity are released and more importantly the default brain network and unconscious associative processing are activated. Specifically, we try to demonstrate that people’s creative performance can be improved after an incubation interval with external task (a computer game in this study) introduced by distracting IT features." @default.
