- W2612964055 abstract "Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the main breast feeding characteristics to the sixth month of under five aged children who presented respiratory infection and their current nutritional status. Method: This study was accomplished through the comparison of two cross sectional population based studies, made in Rio Grande/RS’s, in 1995 and 2004. In the second study, there was a significant increase in the children’s proportion with height/age deficit. Results: The curves of exclusive breast-feeding and predominant breast-feeding showed a progressive fall of this practice to the sixth month, being the predominant mixed breast feeding the practice more common in infantile feeding among the children with respiratory diseases in this city. Conclusion: So, in spite of the diffusion of the benefits of the exclusive breast-feeding, this practice is little used in Rio Grande/RS." @default.
