- W2613165750 abstract "In cats and rabbits effects of lesions in diencephalic, mesencephalic and oral pontic reticular formation upon the potentials evoked in visual and acoustic pathways were studied.Cronical and acute preparations were used. After lesions in subthalamic and mesencephalic reticular formation are found the following results: 1) increase of the latency and decrease of the amplitude of the b wave of the electroretinogram; decrease of the amplitude of the photic evoked potential in the lateral geniculate body. The lesions in subthalamic and mesencephalic reticular formation and also in nucleus reticularis pontis oralis give rise to an increase of the amplitude of photic and auditory evoked potentials in the primary visual and auditory cortical areas.Considerations of these results are made in relation: 1) with the control of these reticular regions on the afferent sensory impulses and its possible pathways; 2) with knowledge of some mechanisms of perception, habituation, etc.; 3) with the interrelation between different relay stations of the afferent pathways." @default.
