- W2616371321 abstract "Abstract Nanostructured amorphous nickel oxide is synthesized through a novel chemical route using nickel chloride and ethanol amine. The X-ray diffraction and Transmission Electron Microscopic studies established the amorphous nature of the sample while Fourier Transform Infrared, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive and X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopic studies of the sample revealed the formation of NiO. The zero field cooled (ZFC) and field cooled (FC) magnetization studies of the sample established the core-shell magnetic structure of the system. The weak ferromagnetic behaviour of the amorphous NiO due the presence of both antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic interactions is evident from the magnetic hysteresis studies in the temperature range 20–300 K. The magnetic response of the amorphous NiO is traced to the concentration of O2– vacancies which act as donor impurities and mediate the alignment of magnetic moments associated with Ni2+ vacancies. The reduction in induced magnetization of the amorphous NiO compared to that of crystalline NiO indicates the reduction of magnetic moments associated with Ni2+ vacancies." @default.
