• W2621344653 abstract "Abstract The present article deals with the optimization of machine stoppages on a “flow shop” type production line. The study was made within the frame of assignation of each machine to one operator. This operator intervenes either to change tools during a stoppage, or for a control of quality without stopping the machine. The objective is to minimize the stoppages that are due to the unavailability of the operator when a change of tools must take place. We chose to approach this problem through a genetic algorithm with the view to determine the initial conditions of starting a machine that entail the least waiting times resulting from the unavailability of the resource. In this paper we describe how to adapt the general principle of genetic algorithms and especially how to assess the pertinence of a solution. This approach is then extended to the whole set of machines in the production line. Finally the results worked out by the genetic algorithm are validated thanks to a simulation of the production line with a software tool that enables an evaluation of their performances." @default.
