- W2623390293 abstract "School problems are the most fascinating study area of these days for an educator as well as in the field of health. Many researches have been done. Students of higher classes are always under constant pressure of competition with peers and future of career, parent's and teacher's expectation, etc., These issues can lead to poor and development in teenager and adolescent students. Many problems have their beginnings in childhood or adolescence.Mental Health is a state of well being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with normal stresses of life, can work productively and is able to make contributions to his or her community (Leonard, 2005).Gupta (2008) stated that Mental Health is usually assumed as the antonym of illness or in other words it is the absence of any psychopathology. This explanation ignores the concept of positive and therefore attempts have been made to provide a definition from a broader perspective. Achieving and maintaining it consists of two functions. One is preventing and treating various psychological disorders and other is about promoting health. Many disorders have their beginnings in childhood or adolescence. The National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (2010) found that 13 percent of children ages 8 to 15 had at least one disorder, a rate that is comparable to diabetes, asthma, and other diseases of childhood. Yet, disorders often go undiagnosed and untreated for years (Lawlor, 2010). It was previously stated that there was no one official definition of health. Cultural differences, subjective assessments, and competing professional theories all affect how mental health is defined (WHO, 2001). There are different types of problems, some of which are common, such as depression and anxiety disorders, and some not so common, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder (Kitchener & Jorm, 2002). Most recently, the field of Global Mental Health has emerged, which has been defined as 'the area of study, research and practice that places a priority on improving and achieving equity in for all people worldwide' (Patel & Prince, 2010).Definitions of healthWHO (2011) definition of health: A state of complete physical, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease. It is related to the promotion of well-being, the prevention of disorders, and the treatment and rehabilitation of people affected by disorders.Mental describes either a level of cognitive or emotional well-being or an absence of a disorder. From perspectives of the discipline of positive psychology or holism may include an individual's ability to enjoy life and procure a balance between life activities and efforts to achieve psychological resilience. Mental is an expression of our emotions and signifies a successful adaptation to arange of demands (Holmes, 2006).The National Association for Mental Health describes some of the characteristics of people with good health: comfortable feelings about one's self, feeling 'right' about other people and being able to meet the demands of life. To attain these one should get well or adjust to the environment (Srivdhya, 2007)At least one in five children and adolescents may express a problem in any year and in the United States, it is estimated that one in ten children and adolescents suffer from illness severe enough to cause some level of impairment. It is estimated that six to nine million children and adolescents in the United States have or behavioural problems. Indian Council of Medical Research reported that about 12.8 per cent of children (1-16 years) suffer from problems in India. To ignore adolescents means ignoring the future of our nation. …" @default.
