The safely device consists of oily mechanical components without actuators, controllers, or batteries. The safety device is attached to each drive-shaft of a robot. The safety device locks the drive-shaft after detecting an unexpected contact force between the robot and a human or an unexpected angular velocity of the drive-shaft.
