- W2670807028 abstract "In recent years, a number of studies have been conducted to recover the bioactive compounds from various agricultural wastes. This chapter tabulates a wide range of traditional and emerging techniques that have been applied to the extraction and isolation of valuable bioactive compounds from food wastes, such as solid-liquid extraction (SLE), and pulsed electric fields (PEF) and membrane and resin techniques. The findings obtained from recent studies are a systematic and valuable information source indicating a great potential for agricultural wastes in terms of crop-based and processing-based residues as abundant, biorenewable, sustainable and inexpensive sources of bioactive compounds. Therefore, the principal aim of current and future research is to enhance the exploitation of bioactive compounds from agricultural wastes using various emerging techniques in order to obtain high added-value products with low production costs and low environmental risk, for potential application in the nutraceutical, medical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries." @default.
