EnglishThe metabolic pathway responsible for the biosynthesis of the amino acid phenylalanine, as well as the subsequent routes leading to the biosynthesis of a wide range of compounds of great biological and economic interest, are responsible for one of the largest metabolic fluxes in the biosphere. Paradoxically, the metabolic mechanisms and regulation of these routes have been insufficiently studied in past decades in part due to its complexity. In recent years there have been significant advances in our knowledge of these routes and their regulation at different levels. These advances are the basis for future biotechnological improvements in areas as diverse as the generation of biomass, the nutritional improvement of crops or the production of wood." @default.
