- W2724738861 abstract "Nanomaterials have been divided into two major groups according to their morphology and structures, such as consolidated (or amalgamated) materials and nanodispersions. Among the types of nanomaterials, in particular of consolidated nanomaterials, they have been classified into several groups. This chapter tabulates classification of consolidated nanomaterials. Understanding nanomaterials classification allows one to comprehend dispersive systems. Recent studies on technology of nanomaterials as dispersive systems have generated a large number of terms and definitions. The chapter discusses classification of dispersive systems according to their aggregation states, size, and dimension. Due to modern classification, zero-dimensional dispersive systems include nanopowders (ultra-dispersive) and nanoparticles. These nanoparticles can be classified into nanoclusters, nanocrystals, fullerenes, nanotubes, supermolecules, biomolecules, micelles, and liposomes. The chapter shows the fullerene and other carbon compounds as allotropic modifications of carbon. Each type of allotropic modification is characterized by appropriate sp-bonding structure, dimensionality, and morphology." @default.
