- W2737124919 abstract "This dissertation presents the results of investigations into the accuracy of exponential time-stepping approximation versus central differences algorithm in Finite. Difference Time Domain (FDTD) technique, which is implemented on a whistler wave in a switched time varying magnetoplasma medium in a cavity. A magnetoplasma bounded in a one dimensional cavity which consists of two perfect electric conductor plates with some distance. In a magnetoplasma filled cavity, a source wave propagating in the whistler mode. In this mode the source frequency of wave is less than plasma frequency. The effect of switching a magnetoplasma medium on a whistler wave in a cavity considered. The transformed solution is obtained using FDTD exponential time stepping algorithm. In the case of highly lossy magnetoplasma medium and higher gyro frequencies, exponential time stepping algorithm is more accurate than the central differences approximation. FDTD technique is applied to investigate the effect of plasma decay profile, rate of collapse and rise, collision frequency and switching angle. It is shown that the source wave, whistler wave, is transformed when the magnetoplasma medium collapsed. The switching-off the magnetoplasma medium generates frequency upshifthing with electric-field intensification. A magnetoplasma medium in a cavity has an external magnetic field along the direction of the source wave. When the external magnetic field is collapsed, the original whistler wave is converted to zero frequency wiggler magnetic field. In the case of switching-on magnetoplasma medium in a cavity for extraordinary waves (X waves) also investigated using FDTD exponential time-stepping algorithm. In this case, external magnetic field perpendicular to the electric field component of the source wave. During the switching-on magnetoplasma medium, the effect of rise time also investigated using FDTD." @default.
