- W2737148243 abstract "Luminescence has been used as a tool in an attempt to sort out several different color centers which absorb light in the N-band spectral region in additively colored KCl crystals. Crystals in which the R and N bands have been maximized by relatively long exposures to light in the F-band spectral region at room temperature luminesce in a manner which is consistent with the identification of a major portion of the N1 band at 0.96 μ and all of the N2 band at 1.02 μ with R-center transitions. Annealing these crystals at 85°C apparently produces two distinct centers which absorb at about 0.96 μ. The emission band of one of these centers peaks at 1.44 μ and exhibits a 〈100〉 transition moment, while the other center emits around 1.3 μ with a 〈110〉 (or 〈121〉) transition moment. The former center is apparently produced also in unannealed crystals containing maximized R and N bands by bleaching in the n1 band at room temperature. A fourth center whose absorption band coincides with the N1 band is the F+3 center; a few of these centers form in the early stages of normal F aggregation." @default.
